PassivLiving approached me to redesign the consumer facing app for their smart heating system. The previous app allowed users to controll their heating and hot water systems but did not allow intuitive customisation and failed to adequately communicate some of the more complex functionality of smart heating. The redesign had to solve for these two challenges.
I ran several workshops with the technical team developing user flows that helped define the functionality required. We created a backlog of features informed by the flows and jumped straight into wireframes and prototypes to test with stakeholders. Once these had been approved I began working on updating the visual identity of the app, refining the mark, colours and typography and developing rules around their usage. I then designed the component library using key screens and flows and mocked up high fidelity prototypes to set some rules around animation.
